Somewhere between the pages of a well-loved storybook and the sun-dappled slowness of a European summer, this collection is a quiet celebration of the small, magical things we notice when we're barefoot in the grass.

These are garden hours made tangible — painting outside with berry-stained fingers, wildflowers gathered in the crook of an elbow, a snail making its slow way across a shaded path. It's drawn from overgrown hedges and winding vines, birdsong and strawberry patches, the illustrated pages of childhood books, and the golden blur of late afternoon light.

Each piece is hand-shaped and hand-painted with a kind of gentle storytelling — snails, wild strawberries, clover, birds, and blooms in soft, earthy blues, browns, and greens, with the occasional bright red pop of a berry. Quiet heirlooms, meant to be lived with and loved: to hold your figs, your rings, your everyday moments. A bit wobbly, a bit wild — like the best gardens are.

Stephanie Dawn Matthias is a Los Angeles–based ceramicist creating small-batch, hand-built pieces inspired by European folk art and decorative traditions. Each one is hand-built and illustrated by hand, drawing on influences from Pennsylvania Dutch Fraktur to antique British transferware and vintage floral textiles. The result feels rooted in the past while sitting naturally in a modern home — heirloom objects made for everyday use.
