JR is a globally renowned artist who transforms public spaces into universal galleries—not through paintings on gallery walls, but through large-scale participatory projects, cinematic collaborations, and striking installations that blur the line between art and activism.
Using the street as his canvas, JR creates monumental photographic collages that speak directly to communities. His participatory projects—28 Millimeters, Face 2 Face, and others—invite local residents to become part of the art itself. In 2011, he launched Inside Out, a worldwide initiative that democratized artistic expression by inviting anyone to share their image and voice.
